The New York Media and the official Twitter stream of the New York Jets just put out some very interesting tweets about two existing players and two transactions just made today:
Rookie Joe McNight Fails Conditioning Test
The New York Jets 4th Round draft pick has been making press and not in a great way. Â At the Jets Rookie camp, Joe had thrown up on the field due to not being in shape, and TODAY, he was placed on the active non-football injury list due to failing a conditioning run.
TheJetsStream #Jets announced RB Joe McKnight failed conditioning run and was placed on the active non-football injury list. #nfl nyjets EA: McKnight will be counted as part of the Jets’ 80-man TC roster. But he can’t practice until he passes the run. rodboone #Jets have put RB Joe McKnight on the active/non-football injury list. He failed his conditioning test. Erik Ainge Placed on Reserver Non/Football Injury List
One of the third string quarterbacks, Erik Ainge was also placed on a list, this one the Non-Football injury list with an unspecified illness. Â Erik has been a very active user of Twitter this summer but has been quiet the past two weeks.
In photos and tweets he put out, he looked fine and was seen at a pool and a restaurant with family and friends.

With the signing of Mark Brunell yesterday, and ensuring that he would be the backup to Mark Sanchez, the battle of the 3rd string quarterback was going to be between Ainge and Kevin O’Connell.
By placing Ainge on the Non-Football Reserve list, Erik will not count against the 80 man training roster.
TheJetsStream #Jets also put QB Erik Ainge on reserve non-football illness list. #nfl #nyj No timetable yet for his return nyjets EA: QB E. It didn’t take long for the Jets to do some housekeeping. On the first day that rookies, quarterbacks and selected veterans reported to Florham Park, the team made the following transactions:
QB Erik Ainge was placed on the reserve non-football injury list for an undisclosed illness. There’s no timetable for his return. He won’t count against the Jets 80-man training camp roster.
The Jets have informed QB Kevin O’Connell that he will compete for a roster spot in Cortland, a source told me. There was speculation that O’Connell would get his walking papers with the arrival of veteran Mark Brunell. But it appears that he’ll have a chance to compete for a roster spot during training camp.
Rookie Joe McKnight failed his conditioning run and was placed on the active non-football injury list. The former USC running back struggled with his conditioning and threw up during his first practice at rookie minicamp in the spring.
The team signed S Emmanuel Cook and cut LB Ezra Butler.
