In a move that I truly can say I don’t understand, Green Bay Packers CB Charles Woodson has won the NFL’s Defensive Player Of The Year award over our very own Darrelle Revis.
Let me add that I do not begrudge Woodson himself who had a fantastic year in his own right, however I think the voters did not draw from a complete picture when making their decision. While Woodson put up great numbers on a squad that was in transition, Revis was simply the best defensive player in football.
There is plenty of game film to support it too.
Revis is the epitome of a shutdown corner and owned just about every challenge placed in front of him.
Terrell Owens? Check.
Randy Moss? Check.
Andre Johnson? Check.
Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson? Check.
Steve Smith? Check.
Marques Colston? Check.
What more does a guy have to do to get the nod anyway? Woodson did have more interceptions than Revis but that has a lot more to do with the lack of opportunities being a shut down corner brings than anything else.
Alright, enough griping. A hearty congrats to Charles and crew for a solid award winning effort. Watch your back next year buddy…Revis is coming.
