New York Jets offensive tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson was added to the AFC team for the Pro Bowl on Friday. Ferguson replaces Miami Dolphins tackle Jake Long, who is out with an injury.
On the eve of the playoffs, the Daily News has learned that Rex Ryan delivered a short but fiery speech in which he listed the myriad “excuses” used by the Bengals in the aftermath of their 37-0 loss to the Jets last Sunday, according to people in the room. Among them: A vanilla game plan. Resting starters. Nothing at stake.
If you were seeding the games this weekend the way they seed the teams in the NFL tournament, Jets vs. Bengals would be seeded last. No. 4 out of four. One more thing about which Jets fans absolutely don’t care. Jets fans care only that the 4:30 game today is theirs. You don’t believe in the Jets today? Jets fans do.
Sunday night meant nothing. If there were something less than nothing, Sunday night would have meant that. Three seed, four seed? Con-cede. Who cares? Certainly not the Bengals.

New York Jets iconic quarterback Joe Namath guarantees Gang Green aren’t favorites to win Super Bowl
A long time ago, Joe Namath scoffed at the oddsmakers, shocking the world with a guarantee that still resonates. He’s synonymous with great upsets, but not even Broadway Joe could bring himself to agree with Rex Ryan’s claim that the Jets should be favored to win the Super Bowl. Namath half-expected Ryan to take a mulligan. “I’d be surprised if he didn’t quote Capt. Queeg in the ‘Caine Mutiny’ court marshal: ‘Ah, I made a misstatement,’” Namath told the Daily News Thursday.
