Braylon Edwards Has First Practice With New York Jets

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards has been traded to the New York Jets.Wide receiver Braylon Edwards has hit the practice field with the New York Jets a day after being traded by the Cleveland Browns.

Wearing a white No. 17 Jets jersey, Edwards caught passes from rookie starter Mark Sanchez and backups Erik Ainge and Kevin O’Connell in early drills today.

Edwards was traded from Cleveland on Wednesday for wide receiver Chansi Stuckey, linebacker Jason Trusnik and two undisclosed draft choices.

The Jets are wasting no time in utilizing the former Browns talent with coach Rex Ryan saying Edwards will start opposite Jerricho Cotchery in the Jets’ next game Monday night at Miami. The team is sure to be anxious to put Edwards on the playing field.

Edwards gives the Jets the deep threat they were sorely missing.

Edwards had 10 receptions for 139 yards and no scores for the winless Browns.

In my opinion, Edwards just sounds like one of these athletes who is never going to be happy unless he’s putting big numbers (like T.O). He’ll help the Jets but will eventually complain his way out of town there too. I wrote about this on my website as well. I’d love to get your feedback http://www.danstake.com/2009/10/only-one-reason-sports-should-upset-us.html

    All the best,

I can’t say I totally agree with that. I think if he is happy and getting a chance to compete on the field, he may be just fine. Only time will tell and he definitely could make a liar out of me but I just don’t think so in this case.
