New York Jets linebacker Calvin Pace has returned after completing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Pace was suspended in July without pay for testing positive for a banned substance. The linebacker was allowed to participate in training camp and preseason games, officially starting his suspension with the first game of the season.
Pace appealed to the league after his positive test results, but was denied.
Pace has yet to reveal what supplements he took. Pace did say it was “something that you can get at any GNC.â€
With his pass-rushing presence back on a defense that has been outstanding without him, I look for the Jets to severely hamper the offensive efforts of the next 4 or 5 match ups. The Jets currently rank fifth in overall defense and have allowed just three offensive touchdowns to date. I see this trend continuing all season as long as the main pieces stay healthy.
The Jets stand on the brink of something outstanding. Something truly special. Calvin Pace’s return only solidifies this more. This team just needs to get that offensive piece of the puzzle, that is Mark Sanchez, figured out and things will really get interesting. Not just in the AFC East, but in the entire league. Thats how special this team is poised to be.
But only if.
