Rich Cimini reported late last night that negotiations between running back Leon Washington’s agent Alvin Keel and New York Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum have gone nowhere.

He does report that some progress was made, giving the impression that a deal must be close at hand. Close enough for Cimini to speculate Washington will report on time for camp today.

I sincerely hope the Jets don’t mess this deal up. I don’t know what information the Jets are looking at but from where I sit, this is a must do deal.

Especially if the Jets intend to stick to their guns about no more cash for Thomas Jones.
