Manhattan District Attorney Is Looking For Blood In Burress Gun Case

Manhattan district attorney, Robert Morgenthau, has told The New York Post he wants the former New York Giants star wide out to serve jail time for his infamous, self-inflicted gun shot wound in a Manahattan night club this past November.

Plaxico Burress was reportedly willing to go to jail for 1 year but the district attorney’s office is insisting on a minimum of 2 years in the pokey.

“We’ve always taken the position that he’s going to have to go to jail, whether by trial or by plea,” – Manhattan district attorney, Robert Morgenthau

A spokesperson for Morgenthau, declined to comment on the Post story or to confirm that the district attorney made the comments.

For those just coming out of comas or from under large rocks, Burress shot himself in the thigh at a nightclub early on the morning of Nov. 29. Charged with criminal possession of a weapon, Burress now faces up to 3½ years in prison. Free on $100,000 bail, Plaxico has plead not guilty to all charges. The Giants released Burress in April.

Burress’ attorney was “disappointed and surprised” that the district attorney decided to speak publicly while a grand jury decision on indicting Burress is pending.

Plax, for your sake I hope your lawyer has some serious Johnny Cochran mojo going on for you because right now it looks like you’re going to be one of the newest guests of the New York State Correctional system.
