Mark Sanchez Throws First Pitch At Angels Game

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez prepares to throw the first pitch at the Angels game against the Twins Thursday.New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez threw out the ceremonial first pitch of the Angel’s game against the Twins on Thursday. Sanchez attended the game to support the Hollenbeck Youth Program in East Los Angeles.

Sanchez threw a ball from the stretch prompting the media to attack the effort.

“His toss wasn’t even close to a strike” – Associated Press

“The quarterback’s throw? It was high and outside. Just like all the other pitchers in Anaheim of late, he started out behind in the count.” – The Los Angeles Times

Sanchez would admit to tossing a ball in a tweet on his twitter page.

“Just a bit outside. It was a conservative 1st pitch, ball one; went from the stretch. And for the record I was throwing to a lefty hitter!”

Now it seems to me that the media wants you to think this is a bad sign from Sanchez but I say, “What’s the big deal?”.

I really couldn’t care less about how he did throwing a baseball. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that this does not in anyway reflect his talent with the pigskin. I kind of think it is absurd to even try and equate it.

I bet you couldn’t get many pro baseball pitchers to go out and throw a strike to a wide out on a deep slant or a timing play. Heck, most pro pitchers can’t even make the throw to first without muffing it up! The point being that it wouldn’t change how good those guys are with a baseball in their hands.

The only thing “bad” I have to say about this is that, while I realize he was there for a good cause, I would have preferred he did it here in New York, where he is supposed to be the next big thing.
