New York Jets linebacker Clavin Pace has found himself the focus of much attention in light of his recent 4 game suspension by the NFL.
Pace has been suspended by the NFL, without pay, for the first four games of the regular season for violating its performance-enhancing substances policy, the league announced Thursday.
Pace’s suspension begins Sept. 5, allowing him to participate in the pre-season.
In a statement made through the Jets, Pace apologized because he “…took an over-the-counter dietary supplement containing a substance he was unaware violated the league’s policy.”
“I am responsible for what I put into my body and I should have paid closer attention to the league’s guidelines,” Pace said. “I regret that this has happened and apologize to my teammates, the entire Jets organization as well as the fans. Hopefully, this does not distract from our ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl.”
I don’t know all the details around this “accidental” ingestion of a banned substance but I gotta admit….I’m ok with it.
I think it’s ridiculous the lengths the league will go through to stop these players from taking legal, over the counter products.
Yes, I understand that some of these products can be used as masking agents to hide more serious drug use, but surely there has to be a better way to deal with this issue.
